In this work the approaches were proposed for evaluating the contribution of different interactions to the retention of the analytes of various acid-base properties. We used several stationary phase types including bare silica, diol, amino, and zwitterionic ones. Retention characteristics for organic anions and cations, weak acids and bases were studied. The effect of the mobile phase composition and the structure of stationary phase on the ratio of different types of solute-adsorbent interactions was demonstrated for organic ions, weak acids and bases. This resulted in obtaining useful information about acid-base equilibria shifts in aqueous-organic media for HILIC mode.
