Spiraea bella Sims. is known to be one of the species of the genus Spiraea L. characterized by sexual polymorphism. The specimen studied in MBG RAS is not found to have any manifestations of the gynoecium reduction, but it is shown to have a slight manifestation of the androecium reduction typical for gynodioecy. The flower structure of S. bella does not prevent self-pollination. The species is characterized by self-incompatibility. The self-pollen inhibition takes place at the earliest stages of its germination – the pollen-grains adhesion to the stigma surface, pollen tubes exit and their contact with its pellicle and cuticle.
