Nowadays, great attention is payed to graphite nanosheets obtained by ultrasonic powdering technique. But information about the nature of the solvent effect on the sonification and the properties of graphite nanosheets rather disjointed. Graphite nanosheets were obtained by ultrasonication of expandable graphite.Dependence of graphite nanosheets properties from the dispersion solution was studied. It was found that the sonication occurs easier in polar protic solvents and its efficiency decreases in the series: 50% aqueous ethanol, 50% aqueous isopropanol, water, 50% aqueous acetone,isopropanol, acetone, and octane. XRD and Raman spectroscopy showed that in graphite nanosheets saved long-range order and the present disordered graphite. Changes in surface morphology of expandable graphite particles in the dispersion were investigated by SEM. It was found that ultrasonication leads to the appearance of numerous cracks, which occur in the future fracture particles. The highest rate of fragmentation is achieved in the first hour when 50% aqueous ethanol is used as a dispersion solution. During this time, the particle size decreases by an order.
