The project “Information System Soil-Geographic Database of Russia” (ISSGDB) initiated by the V.V.Dokuchaev Soil Science Society at 2005 currently running in the soil data centre of the Soil Science Department of M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University. The responsibilities of the center include stocktaking of digitized soil information, maintaining and exchanging technologies in scientific and educational processes. All activities are conducted on the basis of the ISSGDB. The capabilities of ISSGDB fully meet the ideology of the FAO Global Soil Partnership program. Russian Federation participates in the program since 2012. Basic principles of the program are distributed storage of soil information in local data centers, where primary soil data collected, and online exchanging by soil data represented in compatible format. Now the distributed network in Russia consists of agrochemical centers from Rostov, Belgorod, South Federal University and ISSGDB, where monitoring fertility soil data stored along with legacy soil surveys. ISSGDB as the coordinator provides network functioning, developing and distribution of soil data representing and exchanging standards corresponding to international standards, that achieved by using the specialized software adapted to regional features. The most urgent task is the creation of a nationwide network of soil data centers included all primary soil data holders.
