In this communication, we present several examples of cage transformations which include both SWR(s) and C2L(s). Such transformations were known for C2-C88(33) (one C2L + one SWR) [1] and C2-C100(18) (two C2Ls + one SWR) [2]. Recently, new, very remarkable chlorination-promoted transformations in C2v-C78(2) and C2-C88(3) [3] were established. The cage transformation in C2v-C78(2) includes six successive SWRs followed by a C2L. The molecules of non-IPR C78Cl24 (after 6 SWRs) and the final non-classical, non-IPR C76Cl24 are present in the same crystal structure. Skeletal transformations in isomers of C78 have not been known before. Non-classical, non-IPR C84(NC2)Cl30 was found in the chlorination products of a mixture of C92 and small amounts of C88 [3]. A reconstruction of possible pathways from IPR C88 to the experimentally found C84(NC2)Cl30 revealed that the latter is formed from a new isomer of C88, C88(3). The four-step cage transformation includes two C2Ls and two SWRs. Remarkably, the carbon cage in C84Cl30 contains two pairs of fused pentagons and two quartets of sequentially fused pentagons, the latter pentagon arrangement being observed for the first time.
