The non-tidal sea level oscillations in the small inlet of the White Sea are investigated using the data of measurements in June – October of 2008 – 2012. The measurements were performed at the White Sea Biological Station of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Focus is given to the study of the residual oscillations in the synoptic timescale. The residual sea level fluctuations were obtained by excluding of tidal component from the measurement data. The relationship is examined between the fluctuations of sea level and atmospheric pressure. Significant wind-surge fluctuations occurred in autumn owing to the amplification of cyclonic activity over the waters of the White and Barents Seas. Dominant ”inverse barometer” effect is clearly seen when comparing the average ten-day values of the sea level and atmospheric pressure. A high negative correlation took place between these values with a correlation coefficient on the order of 0.80. Key words: sea level, residuals, White Sea, atmospheric pressure
