A subject of the Singularity Theory eventually started by me, I.Luengo and A.Melle by a direct influence of Alejandro was discussed. This is a study of meromorphic germs. The initial idea to do something was motivated by the interest of Alejandro and Ignacio with E.Artal in topology of polynomial functions. At a point at infinity, a polynomial function determines a meromorphic germ (of a very particular form) and it is somewhat natural to relate topological properties of the polynomial function with properties of these germs. We did not continue this subject long enough. In a couple of years we found something different what looked (and really was) more attractive, and after that almost 100% of our studies were related with that one. I'll discuss the origin of the subject and its development during the last two decades.
