Fibrous composites based on oxide matrices and oxide fibers are promising materials for use at high temperatures, of the order of 1000 оС and higher. Composites made of brittle components cannot dissipate the energy of fracture as made of metals ones because they have not any large plastic areas at the crack tip. The prospects for using existing mechanisms such as fiber–matrix interface fracture, debonding, and pull-out must be assessed from the standpoint of energy dissipation.
