The problem of recognizing counterfeit handwritten documents existed from early times and it remains relevant to the present today. In the age of technology development, such pseudoscientific studies as graphology (this is the handwriting analysis from a psychological point of view), go into the background, and physical and chemical methods of analysis are becoming more popular. The first reports, devoted to ink analysis using chromatographic and electrophoretic methods, have already appeared in the 90s years. For the last twenty years, the studies of counterfeit documents have become more accurate and at present many practical questions can be solved through various analytical methods. But an especially interesting and completely unresolved question is the evaluation of handwritten notes or signatures age in documents. Development of modern, high effective and sensitive approaches of writings, made by ballpoint pen inks, is of current interest. Application of high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry in this scientific area is a promising research direction. Age of stroke can be assessed if it is possible to trace behavior of any ink component over time. Based on the existing published works on this topic, document dating, made by ballpoint pen inks, is an extremely complex issue due to the large number of variables, affecting the ink on the paper. Comparison of the strokes aging in natural and artificial conditions may be a useful tool in the understanding this process. For the artificial aging UV lamp was used. According to the obtained results, the kinetic of artificially aged documents, exposed to an UV lamp, differs from the kinetic of aged documents, which were in conditions that are as close as possible to the real conditions of documents storage. This fact can be used in criminalistics, as it allows to distinguish falsified documents, aged artificially.
