A series of novel dipicolylamine complexes containing both redox-active metal center and antioxidative 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol fragment (1-13) was studied. The antioxidant potential was evaluated using different biotestes: DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrozyl) radical scavenging, superoxide radical-anion (O2.-) scavenging, cupric reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC), inhibition of lipoxygenase (LOX) activity and lipid peroxidation of liposoms. It was shown that all complexes demonstrate more effective antioxidative activity in comparison with the ligand. The nature of metal and anion X essentially influences the activity of complexes. The most promising are Cu and Mn complexes. In inhibition of LOX activity in the presence of 4, 6, 10, 12 IC 50 were found to be 16.1, 33.6, 32.1 and 25 μM, respectively
