Описание:The aim of the course is to provide an introduction and overview of magnetoelectric phenomena in condensed matter, with particular reference to the multiferroic materials.
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
• operate basic concepts of ferroic ordering and order parameter in condensed matter
• use symmetry analysis to explain and predict various effects in crystals
• solve simple problems related to the scaling in nanomagnetism and size effects in ferroelectrics
• apply Landau-Ginzburg-Devonshire theory to solve theoretical and practical problems involving phase transitions and magnetic structure formation in solids
