Проект направлен на выявление закономерностей исторического развития и современного состояния языков и культур Южной Сибири в аспекте их взаимодействия на основании современных языковых, антропологических и психолингвистических данных с применением корпусных и психолингвистических методов исследования.

Project objectives: 1. To reveal a detailed picture of regional languages and dialects on the basis of mass collection of linguistic data by means of linguistic surveys, recording folklore texts and everyday speech samples, as well as recording speech during involved observation and interdisciplinary analysis of the obtained material, which, in turn, will help to evaluate the extent of their relationship whether in synchronous state or on genealogical tree, in diachrony, find correlations of evaluations by different features and also correlations of language data with other disciplines’ data, first of all, cultural anthropology. All genealogical and contact hypotheses will be tested for their correlation with ethnic composition of local population, and the relevant corrections will be made both at the hypothesis generation stage and at the stage of analyzing material. 2. To collect data revealing semantic transfer in bilinguals’ linguistic consciousness (around 150 000 reactions in each language: Shor, Khakas) through usage of traditional surveys targeted at harvesting psycholinguistic data and modified in the context of the linguistic material of the studied idioms. 3. To create new and extend the existing corpora of the languages of Southern Siberia, including Chulym, Teleut, Shor, Khakas and other Turkic languages of the region up to 500 000 – 1 million word usages due to work with archive materials and results of field studies. 4. To develop and apply an analytical tool enabling a variety of search options in corpora (search by morphologic, semantic, derivational, etymologic tagging, creation of syntax tagging elements with the results visualized ad graphs), gathering lexical token/allolog usage statistics, analysis of word usage context in the given text and in the whole corpus, comparison of allolog lists from all the texts in the corpus with given search filters – by texts, speakers, parlances, dialects and languages, grammatical analysis of each allolog, creation of dictionaries and reversed dictionaries 5. To create a corpus of written and oral speech samples of bilinguals in order to perform the most detailed analysis of code switching mechanisms, which will allow discovering particular aspects of the process not only in the situation of switching to a typologically different language during speech (from agglutinate to fusional language and back) - (550 hours of speech recordings). 6. To study mechanisms of languages’ interaction in the speech of bilinguals of the studied languages (on semantic, grammatical and conceptual levels) via a series of psycholinguistic experiments (via 9 behavioral experiments using E-Prime software and eye-tracking device) revealing this interaction within the processes of speech production and perception, reading and solving cognitive tasks with a linguistic component. 7. To develop etymological word data bases for the genealogical language groups of the region. 8. To reveal correlations among various classifying linguistic and psycholinguistic features under study and deduce basic ethno-genetic tendencies in the region. 9. To propose a model draft for corpus modeling in all territorial entity of the RF in Southern Siberia whose implementation will contribute to the endangered local ethnic languages revitalization 10. To present the results of the project at international (International Congress on Arctic Social Sciences (2017 г.), PIAC (2018), Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America (2018 r.)) and annual Russian forums (The Russian Committee for Turkic Studies et al.).
