Аннотация:Methods of supramolecular chemistry used to control the efficiency and selectivity of the intermolecular [2+2]-photocycloaddition reactions of alkenes and other unsaturated compounds in homogeneous solutions are surveyed. The most studied methods are self-assembly through cation–macrocycle interactions, complexation with molecular templates via hydrogen bonds and confinement of reactants in supramolecular containers. The possibilities of using anionic templates and combined supramolecular approaches are discussed.
