The importance and scale of production of nanoparticles make it relevant to consider the environmental aspects of nanomaterials. The goal of this paper is to consider some aspects of the fate of nanomaterials in the environment, with attention to binding of nanoparticles to various components of ecosystems and biota. This is a continuation of our previous studies of how the chemical elements which were added to aquatic medium may interact with biological objects and biogenic matter. The review of relevant data and the results of the new experiments reveal some aspects of how nanoparticles may bind to biological objects and biogenic matter, which leads to immobilization of the elements.
