Аннотация:A method is proposed for using a set of acoustic waveguides in the form of a bundle of solid rods to create a multi-element receiving array in liquids. The principle of operation is based on the transmission of an ultrasonic signal from one end of a rod, which is immersed in a liquid, to its other end, which is remote from this liquid. The use of a set of acoustically isolated single-mode waveguides makes it possible to minimize the crosstalk between the receiving array elements (the input ends of each rod). In the experiment, formation of a multi-element array was performed by the aperture synthesis technique using a single rod that was translated step-by-step in the lateral direction by a computer-controlled 3D positioning system. Test acoustic scatterers were placed on the surface of the transducer of 1 Mhz frequency immersed in water. Vibration of the output end of the rod was recorded by a piezoelectric crystal glued to the rod end. The image formation was performed using back-propagation calculations. It is shown that the resulting ultrasonic image of the scatterers provides good localization of all targets demonstrating a potential for the proposed system to be used for ultrasonic imaging.
