Аннотация:The applicability of multisubstrate testing (microtiter plate procedure) for the assessing the functional diversity of soil fungi was analyzed. As a basis of the study it was taken the system EcoLog with the analy -sis of fungal growth on 23 organic substrata (group of sugars, amino acids and others). In applied variant of the method, the plates with set of substrates were inoculated by soil suspension and antibiotic solution and then incubated for 3—5 days on a shaker (600 rpm) at 24—26 °C. The growth of fungi was assessed by op -tical density (absorbance at 405 nm) without staining. This method allowed us to distinguish the fungal communities in soils with different environmental conditions by the indexes of the richness of consumed substrates and the intensity of the fungal growth. These differences were better determined in the guild-spe -cific analysis, i. e. by evaluating the consumption of certain groups of substances (sugars, amino acids) than
in the analysis of all data. Variations in the intensity of the fungal growth on certain organic substrates un -der different soil ecological conditions can be identified by this method also. These substrates proposed to consider as «bioindicating». For example, in the same soil at different temperatures the differences in inten -sity of the fungal growth on N-acetyl-D-glucosamine was observed.
