Аннотация:The elucidation of formation conditions of the platinum group metal (PGM) deposits is an interestingissue of fundamental and applied significance in geology. Since PGMs are primarily derived from mafic–ultramafic plutons, the study of solubility of PGMs in silicate melts at various physicochemical constraints is essential for understanding their behavior during the formation of PGM deposits. The solubility of PGMs, Pt included, has been studied for a wide range of temperatures and oxygen fugacity (lgfO2 ) in anhydrous [1, 2] and hydrous [3] haplobasaltic melts that represent nearly eutectic anorthite–diopside (An–Di) or anorthite– albite–diopside (An–Ab–Di) melts, which are considered an Fe-free analog of basaltic magmas. The results of experimental works mentioned above show that Pt solubility depends on in anhydrous (dry) melts and on and in hydrous melts, because Pt solubility in hydrous melts is higher than that in anhydrous ones under similar constraints. According to the existing concepts of the mechanism of Pt solubility in silicate melts, the dependence of Pt solubility on and testifies to the solubility of this metal in the ionic rather than the zero-valent form.
