Аннотация:In this paper we present the implementation of preconditioning techniques for
the selected iterative method MinRes as solver for the Discrete Sources Method
(DSM). This semi-analytical method allows the computation of light scattering
by small particles. In general, it generates linear systems with dense matrices
which, in the current implementation, are solved by the QR decomposition
method. Nevertheless, for large particles or particles with extreme geometries
even this mostly stable solver can fail. In these cases, we expect that iterative
methods with preconditioning techniques can provide a satisfying solution. We
check several preconditioning techniques regarding the computational time and
the quality of solution for a variety of oblate and prolate spheroidal particles of
different size and geometrical aspect ratio.
