Аннотация:The temperature dependence of the magnetization has been determined for the rare-earth sublattice in compounds of RFe//2 and RFe//3 type, where R is a heavy rare-earth element. The effective exchange field at the rare-earth ions is 2 to 3 multiplied by (times) 10**6 Oe. The corresponding value for the Fe is 8 multiplied by (times) 10**6 Oe. These fields affect the Curie temperature theta . Molecular-field theory indicates that theta DELTA theta is proportional to the de Jan factor and this is confirmed by experiment. There is a discontinuity in the effective exchange field near the magnetic-compensation temperature.
