Аннотация:
The potential dependences of the differential capacitance are measured under identical conditions on the Ga, In-Ga, Tl-Ga, and Hg electrodes in aqueous solutions containing n-C4H9OH and [(C4H9)4N]BF4. For the cathodic adsorption-desorption peak potential, expressed in a rational scale, to be used as a criterion for hydrophilicity of metals, electronic capacitances of metals under comparison must coincide in the absence of the metal-water chemisorption interaction. In the general case, when there is no such coincidence, two corrections must be introduced. One accounts for the potential drop between metals in a metallic phase, associated with different electronic capacitances of metals. The other allows for the potential drop between metals in a liquid phase, which allows for different adsorbability of an organic substance at different metals at a fixed charge. Using the corrected hydrophilicity criterion may alter not only the metal hydrophilicity magnitude but also the position of metals in the hydrophilicity series. © 1999 MAEe cyrillic signK "Hayκa/Interperiodica".
