Within the framework of basic concepts of the Alekseev-Popov-Kolotyrkin model (APK), equations are derived for calculating the equilibrium differential capacitance and the surface tension as functions of the electrode potential at simultaneous specific adsorption of two different ions. According to the calculations, the equations describe the experimental data on coadsorption of Tl+ and NO3- at the Hg/H2 interface better than analogous equations obtained earlier within the framework of the Grahame-Parsons model (GP). This is true for binary solutions of TlNO3 and mixed TlNO3 + KNO3 solutions with a constant ionic strength. It is found that the APK description of simultaneous specific adsorption of two ions lacks the GP limitations mentioned earlier. © 1998 MANK Hayka/Interperiodica Publishing.
