Аннотация:The x-ray Structure is solved (CAD-4 diffractometer, lambda-Mo K-alpha) for C6H5SnCl3-(HMPA)2, a = 16.013(3), b = 11.397(3), c = 16.490(4) angstrom, beta = 98.81-degrees, space group P2(1)/c, Z = 4, R = 0.030, 4577 reflections in least squares. The Sn atom has octahedral surroundings. The HMPA ligands are located in positions cis to the phenyl group and trans to each other. The principal bond lengths are Sn-Cl(trans), 2.397; Sn-Cl(cis), 2.465; Sn-O, 2.124; and Sn-C, 2.173 angstrom. Literature data are surveyed to study the structural aspect of cis-weakening of the Sn-O and Sn-Cl bonds in octahedral Sn(IV) complexes. It is found that the dependence of Sn-L bond lengths on Taft constants (donor ability) of cis-ligands is linear over a width of 0.2 angstrom. The trans-effect is more complicated.
