Аннотация:A comparative morphological analysis of brain in sympatric sibling species of Microtus rossiaemeridionalis (2n = 54) and M. arvalis (2n = 46) was conducted on the material from one geographical point (Zvenigorod region, Moscow district). The brain mass in M. rossiaemeridionalis (514 + 6,8 mg in males; 490 + 9,3 mg in females) was significantly greater (by 11,5%; p < 0,001) than in M. arvalis (458 + 6,6 mg in males; 442 + 8,4 mg in females), the body mass being similar in both species. Differences in the brain proportions were also revealed. The relative mass of olfactory bulbs and hippocampus in M. rossiaemeridionalis exceeds the mass of those structures in M. arvalis. The observed in the considered brain characteristics of the common vole sibling species are consistent With the level of differences between the related species.
