Аннотация:A new electrode, a liquid Cd-Ga alloy (0.3 at. % Cd), is developed and studied. Its double-layer characteristics markedly differ from those of a Ga electrode and are virtually identical to those of a Cd electrode. In the absence of a chemisorption interaction between metal and solvent, its metallic capacitance is close to that of Ga, In-Ga, and Tl-Ga electrodes and differs from that of a Hg electrode. Its hydrophilicity is close to that of an In-Ga electrode. The chemisorption drop of potential of the solvent obtained for the Cd-Ga electrode fits the dependence typical for Ga, In-Ga, and Tl-Ga electrodes and correlates with the work function for the metal. Mercury does not fit this dependence, which is due to a larger separation between solvent dipoles and the metal (Hg) ionic core.
