Аннотация:We have studied phase relations in a molybdenum oxide-rich region of the ternary system CaO-Nd2O3-MoO3. Using polycrystalline samples prepared by solid-state reactions in air, the system has been shown to contain a rather broad region of cubic fluorite-like phases isostructural with Nd5Mo3O16. The atomic structure of a calcium-doped fluorite- like Nd5Mo3O16 (+) (delta) single crystal grown from an off-stoichiometric melt has been studied by X-ray diffraction. The peculiarities of the structure of calcium-doped fluorite-related compounds were revealed. Experimental structural data demonstrate partial mutual substitutions of Nd and Mo cations, splitting of the O2 position into several additional positions, and the presence of excess oxygen, which occupies octahedral sites in the voids of the structure. Some of the fluorite-like samples have high electrical conductivity, on the order of 10(-2) S/cm at 800 degrees C. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
