Аннотация:New aspects of the joint asorption of tetramethylammonium (TMA+) and tetrabutylammonium (TBA+) ions at the mercury/dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) interface have been revealed by a combination of interfacial tension and differential capacitance measurements. It was found that the TBA+ ions exhibit higher surface activity at values low negative values of charge of the mercury, while the TMA+ ions exhibit higher surface activity at values of charge more negative than -20-mu-C/cm2. A method was suggested for quantitative estimates of charge density of the specifically adsorbed TMA+ and TBA+ ions when they are coadsorbed at the Hg/DMSO interface.
