Аннотация:(Hg(2)P)(2)ZnI(4) is prepared by the standard ampule method. Its crystal structure is determined by X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in monoclinic crystal system (space group P2(1), a = 7.850(2) angstrom, b = 12.719(2) angstrom, c = 7.861(3) angstrom, beta = 119.52(2)degrees, Z = 2) and contains a tridymite-like framework consisting of mercury and phosphorus atoms with ZnI(4)(2-) groups in its voids. This description indicates the similarity of the compound to Millon phases. The structure of (Hg(2)p)(2)ZnI(4) is compared to (Hg(2)P)(2)HgBr(4), the only reported earlier phosphorus analogue of Millon phase.
