Аннотация:This paper is devoted to the theoretical and experimental investigation of coherent light diffraction on ultrasound in a birefringent tellurium dioxide single crystal. The examined case of anisotropic acousto-optical interaction is characterized by a low sensitivity to the optical polarization direction of an incident laser beam. The possibility of achieving modulation of arbitrarily polarized beams originates from a special selection of the acousto-optical interaction geometry inTeO2 crystals. A modulator operating with non-polarized light at λ = 1.06 μm is also described in this paper.
