Аннотация:An attempt was made to transfer the process of hydrogen evolution at a Pt electrode in acid solutions to the region of kinetic control by covering the surface with copper and silver adatoms because hydrogen evolution overpotentials of copper and silver are sufficiently high. It was shown that the effect of adatoms is strong at smooth platinum and weak at a highly platinized electrode. The development of the surface area of highly active Pt electrodes does not immediately intensify hydrogen evolution, but leads to a decrease in the sensitivity of the process to the presence of impurities on the surface.
