Аннотация:Work of the last 7-10 years concerning individual metals, metal alloys, systems with metal adatoms, and supported metallic electrocatalysts was reviewed. Prime consideration was given to the platinum-group metals and nickel as the electrode materials, and to hydrogen evolution and ionization as well as to the oxidation and reduction of simple organic compounds as the electrode reactions. The influence of surface state of the metal catalysts on their electrocatalytic and adsorption properties, the development of new methods for the preparation of electrocatalysts, the utility of porous catalyst layers, the stability of modified surfaces, the mutual influence of support and supported metal, and other problems were discussed with examples referring to the above systems.
