Аннотация:The data obtained by long-term tracking of Haematococcus pluvialis and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii individual cells indicate special phototaxis mechanism operating in unicellular flagellated algae which is related to serial spontaneous changes in swimming direction during photactic response and based on modulation of positive/negative swimming time ratio. Spontaneous changes in swimming direction under phototaxis conditions and in the absence of actinic light seem to be controled by endogenous periodic processes. According to the number of its particular characteristics/period value, double-period interval occurrence, several simultaneous rhythms functioning, dependence upon photosynthetically active background illumination/rhythmic motion activity in flagellated algae resembles previously found in Haematococcus cells oscillations of plasmalemma electric state and periodic micromovements in the protoplast.
