N-Diphenylphosphoryl-N′-Alkylureas as a New Type of Extractants for Actinide Preconcentrationстатья

Аннотация:The activity of nuclear industry plants has resulted in the accumulation of large amounts of acidic liquid radioactive waste that contains radionuclides, in particular, actinides, which are extremely hazardous as potential environmental pollutants [1]. A promising method for isolation of these elements from liquid radioactive waste is extraction based on the use of bidentate neutral organophosphorus compounds (BNOPCs), able to recover actinides over a broad range of nitric acid concentrations. Extraction processes for actinide isolation making use of N-substituted carbamoylmethylphosphine oxides (CMPOs), such as diphenyl( N , N -dibutylcarbamoylmethyl)phosphine oxide [2] and octyl(phenyl)( N , N -diisobutylcarbamoylmethyl)phosphine oxide [3], have now been developed. However, despite the high efficiency, CMPOs have substantial drawbacks to their practical use, in particular, low selectivity and high cost. Therefore, the search for other effective and relatively cheap BNOPCs remains an important task. We found that N -diphenylphosphoryl- N '-alkylureas prepared by a simple route from relatively cheap and commercially available chemicals are highly efficient extractants capable of extracting actinides from nitric acid solutions with high distribution coefficients.
