Аннотация:The goal of the research was to define age effect of cows at first service on their reproductive performance and longevity.
The studies were based on the data of the SELEX software product recorded for retired Bestuzhev cows for the last three years (2015-2017). The research was conducted in the breeding herd of the LLC “ALEX” located in the Nurimanovo district of the Bashkortostan Republic. The animals were divided into five groups depending on the time of their first service (group I - up to 17,0 months; group II – 17,1-18,0 months; group III – 18,1-19,0 months; group IV – 19,1-20,0 months and group V – 20,1 months and older).
Cows at the age from 17,1 to 18,0 months being successfully inseminated at the first service have a longer period of productive performance (5,6 lactations). In addition, they have higher rates of lifespan milk productivity (18312 kg) and milk yield per day (6.35 kg) compared to cows inseminated later. Animals serviced at an earlier age (up to 17 months), having a lower live weight (372 kg), retired from the herd earlier and couldn’t realize their genetic potential.
