Аннотация:The current review summarizes last achievements in the synthesis of piperidine-2,4-diones type azaheterocycles. There are presented traditional (carbonyl compound transformations) and novel (anionic enolate rearrangements) complementary methods for simple and effective preparation of structurally diverse compounds in racemic and enantiopure forms. Due to specific structure and appropriate reactivity profile dione-type molecules are convenient modern platform for construction of functionalized piperidine-type systems possessing high synthetic and medicinal potential. This potential is successfully realizing in creation of highly biologically active pharmaceutically relevant compounds and synthesis of natural products.
