Аннотация:The early Iron Age dwelling A excavated at Rostislavl hillfort between 1998 and 2016 dates back to the middle of the first millenium BC. Being about 30 meters long and 3 meters wide it was a type of “longhouse”. Most part of it was destroyed during the construction of the later dwelling B. Judging by the number of hearths, the dwelling was separated into at least 4 or 5 individual compartments. The walls of the “longhouse” probably had a palefence construction and were reconstructed several times as well as hearths. There is no much information about the interior of the dwelling but analysis of soil samples allows to presume that the floor had organic coverings or mats on it. Ceramics discovered in the dwelling A (148 fragments) included scratched (33%), smoothed (53%) and textile (12%) pottery, some vessels with scratched and smoothed surface bearing comb stamp imprints.
