Аннотация:The molecular properties of oxypropyl cellulose acetate (APC) with an average molar degree of substitution DS = 2.25 were investigated by flow birefringence, sedimentation, diffusion and viscometry. In the range of molecular weight (M) from 3 · 103 to 202 · 103, the relationships between intrinsic viscosity, sedimentation and diffusion coefficients and M were established. The length of a statistical Kuhn segment A = (180 ± 10) Å and the diameter of the molecule d = (17 ± 3) Å were calculated from hydrodynamic data with the application of the worm-like chain model. The optical anisotropy of the molecular segment is positive (400 · 10−25cm3). The dependence of the shear optical coefficient [] on M was used for determination of the equilibrium rigidity of molecules. The optical data gave the segment length AFB = (170 ± 10) Å in agreement with the above value of A. The data were compared to the characteristics of cellulose esters and other ethers with similar structures.
