Аннотация:Research objective was to study psychological reaction of the population to the restrictive actions connected with COVID-19 pandemic. 115 participants were interviewed: medical staff (doctors, nurses and junior nurses) and the residents of Ivanovo which is not infected with a virus. Conducted research revealed that concern for health of the family and for the health in connection with dissemination of COVID-19 is characteristic of most of respondents. Both groups were characterized by a change in daily lifestyle due to the introduction of restrictive measures. Most respondents experienced psychological discomfort during the quarantine period. This is especially characteristic of doctors. Most respondents do not fully agree with the measures taken by the government to manage the pandemic, there were more categorically dissenting persons in the group of Ivanovo residents compared to the medical group. Respondents with higher education were more skeptical of quarantine measures. In assessing their financial situation in connection with the introduction of restrictive measures, both groups of respondents felt material losses with different degrees of severity. Respondents from the group of residents were more likely to believe that the media exaggerated the danger associated with COVID-19, while in the group of medical respondents there were not many, but still more, the opinion that such a danger was diminished. All respondents were of the view that there was a need to strengthen measures to manage infection. All respondents more often expressed the opinion of excessive media attention to the problem of COVID-19. Some of the respondents (7.0% in the group of residents and 4.5% among medical staff) said they needed the help of a psychotherapist in connection with psychological problems during the quarantine. In some cases, the need for psychologist and psychiatrist assistance was also indicated.Key words: coronavirus; psychological reactions; self-isolation.
