- Аннотация: The current plans of the Russian Federation to intensify significantly economic and other activities in its Arctic zone includes the widespread use of Arctic natural resources. However, the legislation have already ascertained high vulnerability of the Arctic environment. It is important to consider both of these approaches from Russian legislation in the development activities in the Arctic. EIA and state ecological expertise (SEE) give a possibility to provide the best coordination between the task to use of Arctic natural resources and the requirements to protect the environment. But the conditions for EIA and SEE have been severely limited from the current legislation. It is justifiably to worry for the future of the environment of such unique region as the Arctic region. Therefore it is necessary to restore impaired functions in the legislation before an invasion of the Arctic environment.
