Аннотация:The article discusses aspects of the biography of Friedrich Plenisner (1713-1778), which was complex, full of dramatic events and scientific discoveries, the path as a corporal in the Horse guards, was established by decree of Empress Anna Ioannovna in 1730, artist, participant of the Second Kamchatka expedition in the days of Elizabeth Petrovna, Colonel and commander of the Okhotsk-Kamchatka region in 1760-1770-s appointed by decree of Catherine II. The main stages of his participation in the process of development and learning Academy of Sciences, the Governing Senate and other state institutions in North-East Asia, collection and interpretation of historical, ethnographic, geographical materials on Chukotka, Kamchatka, Alaska, Bear and the Kuril Islands. For example the study of military and scientific career of Plenisner, which was in the shadow of his great contemporaries (M.V. Lomonosov, G.F. Miller, G.V. Steller, P.S. Pallas, I.G. Gmelin, F.I. Saimonov, S.P. Krasheninnikov, V.I. Bering, A.I. Chirikov), the tendencies of occurrence of Russian ethnographic science, the process of gradual transition from the accumulation of empirical facts to their interpretation, to the analysis of global historical, socio-cultural processes of the peopling of Siberia, North and Alaska, ethnocultural interactions in these areas. Collected by the expeditions of scientific materials, and Museum collections served as a powerful factor in the expansion of ethnographic, cultural and geographical horizons of the Russian and European scientists.
