Аннотация:The regularities and factors of variability of the sexual dimorphism in the crania at 70 samp-les of indigenous population of Northern and Central Asia were investigated by means of univa-riate and multivariate statistics. Analyses indicate that intergroup variability of the sexual dimor-phism has not smaller range, than variability of other morphological features of crania. Differencesin the pattern of the sexual dimorphism arise in part through differences in cranial morphology(in particular greater size at men means a greater dimorphisms' degree), but in part throughhistorical reasons such as different origin of males and females. Stochastic factors also contribute. Different growth patterns of functional regions of the crania (neurocranium, face, nasal area) aresuggested as the reason for different patterns of cranial sexual dimorphism variation in each func-tional region. No correlation between degree of sexual dimorphism of any part of the crania andabiogenous factors (height above sea level, amount of deposits and average temperature of January) was detected.
