KorneevFaculty of Physics, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, RussiaThe aggregation of erythrocytes (AE) significantly affects the viscosity of blood which, in turn, influences the process of its blood fluidity in the body. The mechanisms, which lead to the AE, are not completely investigated so far. However, it is known that the parameters of the AE depend both on the intrinsic characteristics of erythrocytes and the constitution of the blood plasma, in particular, on the gamma globulin protein molecules concentration. At the normal physiological conditions, the concentration of gamma globulin in the human blood plasma is in the range of 6-15 mg/ml.In contrast to our previous work [1], in which only the interaction forces of two erythrocytes were measured using laser tweezers during the formation of paired aggregates at different concentrations of gamma globulin and another protein – albumin in PBS, in this paper, the influence of gamma globulin on the index of AE, the characteristic time of aggregates formation, the hydrodynamic strength of aggregates was additionally studied using the diffuse light scattering technique.The measurements were carried out both on whole blood samples and on a suspension of erythrocytes diluted in saline and/or native blood plasma with the concentrations of gamma globulin 4.2, 9.2, 14.2 and 19.2 mg/ml.The obtained results show that there are no statistically significant differences in the AE parameters measured within the normal physiological concentrations of gamma globulin, while at its higher concentrations the erythrocytes demonstrate enhanced aggregation.Basing on the results, one can conclude that with an increase in gamma globulin concentration the AE is enhanced. At the same time, it was confirmed that spontaneous AE occurs only in blood plasma and does not occur in pure solutions of gamma globulin.This work was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (Grant No. 19-52-51015) and Scientific School “Photonic and Quantum Technologies.
