Аннотация:Highlights•Mutation Gln263Leu in subunit β of mitochondrial ATP synthase from baker's yeast attenuates the non-competitive inhibition of the enzyme ATPase activity (ADP-inhibition) with no major effect on ATP production by mitochondria•The mutation resulted in a decrease of the yeast growth rate and extended the lag period before exponential growth when starved yeast were inoculated in a fresh growth medium.•The growth rate of yeast without mitochondrial DNA (ρ0) was increased by the mutation; the mutant ρ0 strain was less sensitive to ATP synthase inhibitor azide•ADP-inhibition might play a role in prevention of wasteful ATP hydrolysis in the mitochondrial matrix
