Аннотация:The study was undertaken to find correlations between both personality and temperamental traits (estimated with the help of Adult Personality Traits Questionnaire by Manolova, Leonhard and Russian version of Structure of Temperament Questionnaire (STQ) by Rusalov, Trofimova) on one hand and parameters of intonation (mean ΔF0 , tone span, speech rate, duration of speech and mean duration of syllables interval) on the other hand. The parameters of intonation were measured on sample records produced by 30 male and female participants. 60 recordings of natural monologues on proposed topics were obtained in situations of presence and absence of conversation partner. Three personality traits (so-called demonstrativity, hypertimity and dysthymity according to Leonhard’s typology) were found to correlate with some vocal parameters. Demonstrativity appeared to affect speech rate, hypertimity was found to affect tone span, dysthymity proved to correlate with both speech rate and duration of speech. Most explicitly, these effects appeared to show on some special conditions. For demonstrativity that was the presence of conversation partner, while for disthymity - her absence. Sufficient condition for hypertimity was specification of a topic for monologue.
Brief description The influence of 3 personality traits on intonation was studied on the basis of 60 recordings of natural monologue. Demonstrativity appeared to affect speech rate, hypertimity - tone span, dysthymity - both speech rate and duration of speech.
