Аннотация:The present work studied the effect of diffusional Na-enrichment on the reaction kinetics of basaltic fiberglass and an alkali solution at a constant pH in the saturated Ca(OH)(2) and at a constant amount of alkali. It was found that the hydrolytic degradation of basaltic fiberglass is limited by the reaction of the alkali with a surface of silicate material and occurs similarly in different alkalies. The results of hydrolytic stability tests in an alkali solution were used to study the reaction with a liquid phase of solidifying cement. It was shown that the preoxidation of the fiber surface significantly decreases its reaction with the cement liquid phase. An analysis of Ca-enriched fibers that have been used in ventilated facades of buildings for 3 years showed that the reaction between basaltic mineral wool and the ambient environment in urban conditions and temperatures equal to or lower than room temperature occurs via acid hydrolysis.
