Аннотация:A study is performed of the decomposition of water into Н2 and О2 on Pt/TiO2 and Ru/SrTiO3 titanium oxide semiconductor suspensions upon irradiation with UV light, and on Pt,CoO/CdS when irradiated with quanta of visible light. It is shown that the photocatalytic decomposition of water on the surface of wide-gap semiconductors proceeds in the presence of a catalyst of H2 formation, while oxidation is a one-electron process that forms OH radicals. The photodegradation of water is accelerated when there is of an intermediate “working fluid” (the K3Fe(CN)6/K4Fe(CN)6 reversible redox system) upon irradiation with the visible light of CdS coated with CoO and Pt.
