Аннотация:Results of the study of metal content in the cysts, including their chorion, of the parthenogenetic population of Artemia parthenogenetica Barigozzi occurring in Kara-Bogaz-Gol Bay (the Caspian Sea) are given in the paper. It has been found that the total concentration of lead (Pb), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), zinc (Zn), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), strontium (Sr), iron (Fe), and calcium (Ca) in the cysts, including their chorion, varied over a wide range (Pb - 0.04.90 μg/g, Cu - 7.40-257.10 μg/g, Cd - 0.0-0.04 μg/g, Zn - 60.50-234.90 μg/g, Co - 0.10-5.80 μg/g, Ni - 0.0-54.70 μg/g, Cr - 0.50-82.70 μg/g, Mn - 1.80-66.80 μg/g, Sr - 0.81-231.80 μg/g, Fe - 605.00-1189.30 μg/g, and Ca - 56.10-100.00 μg/g). The maximum concentration of Pb, Cu, Cd, Zn, Co, Ni, Cr, Mn, and Fe was observed in the cysts of A. parthenogenetica, whereas the maximum concentration of Mn, Sr, and Ca - in cyst chorion. The highest content of the studied metals was observed in the cysts of A. parthenogenetica occurring in the northwestern part of the bay situated near the enterprises of chemical industry. The content of metals in the cysts of A. parthenogenetica found in Kara-Bogaz-Gol Bay was compared to that in the cysts of Artemia occurring in other localities for assessing a possibility of the use of the cysts of A. parthenogenetica occurring in this bay as live food under conditions of aquaculture.
