Аннотация:The Yachroma Valley of Moscow's Dmitrov Region, is an example of drainage melioration and subsequent cultivation in peat soils. Data analysis on the degradation and evolution of peat soils drained using plastic and ceramic pipes (after preliminary drainage by open ditches at 150-200 m) was carried out using reclamation polygons of 35-40 years and 80-90 years age respectively. The study recommends that in order to ensure long-term conservation and use of peat soils, the peat depth loss should be limited to 0.5-0.6 per year, ash content increase to 0.20-0.33% per year, and bulk density increase to 0.04-0.06 gm/cm3 per year. Drainage design should include closed tile drains (and open ditches with floodgates) to maintain the water-table at 60-120 cm during the cropping season.
