Аннотация:Geographical differences and structure of phenotypic variation in larval life-history
traits were studied in Rana temporaria. The full- and half-sib groups were obtained
by artifi cial crosses of matured frogs collected in three spatially separated populations
in Minsk, Moscow and Kirov regions. The higher mean body length (SM),
higher mean growth rate until metamorphosis (GR) and the lower mean duration of
larval period (LP) were revealed in metamorphs raised under equal laboratory conditions
as compared with ones from natural ponds in each of two populations (Moscow
and Kirov regions). The revealed counter-gradient variation did not correspond
to extremely low heritability in GR in all three populations and to low heritability in
SM and LP in southern population. The genetic and phenotypic correlations of each
pair of traits were similar (both in magnitude and sign) in all three populations. The
body length of males and females and the egg size affected differently on each trait
and do not provide advantage in all three traits simultaneously.
