Аннотация:The variation in body length (both measured and back calculated upon the data
of skeletochronology) between sexes and between populations were studied in
Rana temporaria and R. arvalis. In a southern population of R. temporaria, the
highest growth rate and the minimal differences between sexes in body length and
age distribution were revealed. The signifi cant differences in these traits between
central and northern populations were revealed in each of two species. The sexual
size dimorphism (within each species) and between-species differences formed
already before fi rst wintering.
