Аннотация:A model of magnetohydrodynamic domains describing the motion of a nematic liquid with a negativediamagnetic susceptibility in the torsional deformation geometry is considered. The inertial term in the Navier–Stokes equation is taken into account. This made it possible to introduce into the model three dimensionless parameters, namely, the ratios of the Ericksen numbers to the Reynolds number, which do not depend on the characteristic values of the problem studied but are determined only by the parameters of the medium. Experimental determination of these parameters by observation of magnetohydrodynamic domains makes it possible to estimate the relative roles of elastic and viscous forces in nematics of different natures.
